It may sound obvious—and many churches claim it—but for us the Bible is the center of everything we believe and do.
We Look Forward to Meeting You
We’re a group of Christians who love the Lord and His church. Individually and collectively we’re on a spiritual journey in which we’re actively seeking God and His guidance for our lives. We believe that God’s Word teaches, inspires and convicts us. We recognize that living a spiritually-minded life isn’t always the easiest, but it is the most rewarding and fulfilling life to live.
Is this the church for me?
Absolutely! No matter who you are, where you live or where you are spiritually, we’re convinced that once you spend time with us you’ll start to feel at home.
A Church for Everyone!
We are one of the only churches in Chicago that has a truly diverse membership, at about 40% African-American, 40% White, 15% Hispanic and 5% Asian. We’re also diverse in our life situations. Here you’ll find married couples, singles, college students, young people, older people, white-collar, blue-collar and stay-at-home parents.
We’re a large church with a total attendance of 3,000 on Sundays, but we meet in nine locations around Chicago. “Big Church” means there are plenty of programs with vibrant ministries. “Small Church” means you’ll have the chance to get to know the people you are worshipping with.
We are one of the only churches in Chicago to have a truly diverse, multi-cultural membership.
What to Expect When You Visit
We know visiting a new church can feel a little intimidating. We’ll do our best to make you feel right at home!
What are your services like?
People describe our church services as worshipful, energetic and loving. Service typically lasts about 90 minutes and includes plenty of singing/worship, a reflective communion message and a life-guiding sermon.
What should I wear?
When you come to our service you will find people wearing everything from jeans to suits. Please wear what you feel comfortable worshipping God in. We believe you’ll feel completely welcome — whether you’re casually dressed or in your “Sunday best.”
What’s expected of first-time visitors?
Nothing! Rest assured we’re not going to ask you to raise your hand, stand up or come up front. You’re sure to meet warm, friendly people at our services, but you won’t be singled out. And don’t feel obligated to give to our weekly offering or participate in communion unless you want to. There are no expectations for you as a guest.
Can I take communion?
Of course! There is no expectation that you participate in communion as a guest. However, if you want to take communion at our services, you are more than welcome to do so.
What about my kids?
We want to make sure that both children and adults enjoy an encouraging and inspiring time each Sunday. During worship services, we offer a Kingdom Kids program for infants through 6th graders, allowing parents to attend the worship service while children enjoy an age-appropriate time of learning and fun.
How do I become a member?
We believe that the church is simply a body of believers who have become true disciples of Jesus. If you want to be a part of this body, the first step is to study the bible to find out what Jesus expects of His followers. To set up a personal bible study or to attend a group bible study in your neighborhood, fill out the form below or contact a member of our ministry staff.
A Note From Our Leaders
Welcome to the Chicago Church of Christ! What began in 1982 with 30 devoted disciples of Jesus has grown into a congregation of 2,000 today. Back then our mission was to courageously lead people to full devotion to Christ—with the Bible as our guide. Today our mission remains the same. We are just as committed now to helping each other lead lives devoted to Jesus, and helping people from all backgrounds develop their spiritual lives.
Regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey, we’re sure you’ll find our congregation welcoming, and our teaching inspiring and relevant to your life. Whether you’re interested in coming to one of our services, attending one of our special events or meeting with a small group of Christians in your community, we hope that you will give us the opportunity to meet you.
If you have questions not answered here please fill out this form or contact a member of our ministry staff. If there is something we can personally help you with, feel free to contact us at any time.
