Episode 8: Exodus - The Large Population of Israelites Leaving Egypt

Dry Ground Podcast

Welcome to Episode 8 of The Dry Ground Podcast! We are engaging in a discussion about the large numbers of Israelites involved in the Exodus. What are the factors important to interpreting these numbers? We are talking roughly 2 million Israelites bolting from Egypt during the Exodus. It seems like a logistical nightmare. I find it hard to get my family of four in the car for an outing to the mall! How did Moses do it? With God, obviously! There are some great explanations for these numbers and we will be relying on a scholar named Nahum M. Sarna to guide us during this podcast. I recommend you check out his book if you want to take it deeper (Exploring Exodus: The Origins of Biblical Israel Book) Let's do this.

Hello and welcome to the Dry Ground Podcast. My name is James Becknell and along with my friend Nathan Thompson we want to invite you to spend some time with us exploring the Scriptures to question what it had to say to its original audience and to see how we can apply it to our lives today. We think the Bible is amazing and wonderful! We are convinced that it guides us into a deep and abiding relationship with God. We also believe that it exposes us to who Jesus really is, what he’s like and why he wants to have a relationship with us. We are here to take this journey through the Bible with you and engage in a dialog with each and every one of you.
