Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 4. From 10 a.m. to 2;00pm, the Chicago Church will host an online workshop on the topic of the Bible and Gender, reviewing research and thoughts gleaned from the ICOC Teachers Service Team’s two-year study of Bible passages on gender roles in the church.
As the introduction to the teachers’ papers notes, “There are passages of Scripture that mention gender that are difficult to understand. What do we do with passages that state that women ought to remain silent in the church and another passage that speaks of women praying and prophesying in the assembly? What do we do with a passage where Paul says that he does not permit a woman to teach a man and another passage where Priscilla and her husband, Aquila, teach Apollos the way of Jesus more accurately?”
At the December 4 workshop, Chicago evangelists, women’s ministry leaders, elders and others will examine the different passages and papers on the topic to help us determine how we can best apply biblical principles of gender roles to the day-to-day activities of the church.
The workshop will consist of four segments with a small break between each. If you have any questions or desire further study following the workshop, you will have an opportunity to submit your questions to the moderators at the end. A list of frequently asked questions with answers will be compiled from your feedback.
We look forward to coming together for an inspiring day of exploring God’s Word and building up our spiritual family—in which every part is vital.
See you December 4!
