The Chicago Church of Christ is a multi-racial congregation spanning the Chicagoland area. Beginning in Oak Park in 1982 with a dedicated group of 30 Christians, the church has striven to keep its focus on every individual member being dedicated to pursuing and maintaining a close relationship with God. We believe that Jesus is the only way to come into that relationship with God, and our teaching is centered on His life, His death, His resurrection, His timeless teachings and His ultimate calling to every man and woman to follow Him.
In light of the example set by the early Christians, every member of our congregation is encouraged to be devoted to reading, studying and applying the Bible in their every-day life situations. Although written thousands of years ago, we believe that the Scriptures are inspired by God and have tremendous relevance for our 21st-century lives.
In addition to believing that the Bible must be the standard for our lives, we emphasize the need for one-another relationships where deep friendships and a strong sense of family can be developed and maintained. Whether in one-on-one, small group or congregational settings, we use these relationships to encourage each other in what we hold to be both the greatest commandment and our greatest desire—loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.
Chicago Church of Christ Vision Statement
We envision generations of authentic disciples—intent on loving God and surrendering to Jesus, committed to His mission, determined to discover their God-given gifts and bend them to serve His kingdom and advance the Gospel—who accept his call to go anywhere, do anything, give up everything, and become whatever God bids us to be.
We envision dynamic cross-cultural Ministry Centers, regional ministries within 30 minutes of every soul in Chicagoland, staffed with Evangelists to preach the Word, Elders to shepherd our members, Teachers to fortify our convictions, Youth and Family ministers to inspire Christ-likeness in our homes, Women’s Leaders to minister and counsel, Deacons to serve, and Worship Teams to guide us to new heights in our congregational and individual worship.
We envision House Churches in every neighborhood, town, or village, along with Task Groups for specialized ministry needs, with each disciple steadfastly committed to the 'One Another Way' and connected through healthy discipling relationships.
We envision training future elders, evangelists, teachers, campus ministers, youth and family ministers, women’s leaders, deacons and worship leaders, providing expert initial and ongoing teaching and preparing teams to begin new congregations and strengthen existing congregations throughout the state of Illinois and beyond. We envision serving the European Churches by helping them to reproduce for their harvest field these same parameters for health and growth.
