Youth & Family Ministry The Greater Westland Youth and Family ministry is a team of parents and full-time ministry staff committed to helping our children successfully navigate the turbulent years from childhood to becoming young men and women of God, prepared to hold out the Word of Light in their generation. The youth and family ministry is made up of three sub-ministries: preteens, comprised of students in the 5th and 6th grades; young teens, consisting of 7th and 8th graders; and teens, being freshmen through seniors. A key goal of the youth and family ministry is to provide our children an integrated experience, so that transitions from one sub-ministry to the next serve as memorable milestones in their lives. For instance, strong friendships across preteens, young teens, and teens pave the way for new horizons, while providing the younger children with Christlike role models. Well-planned graduation events also assist to mark and celebrate spiritual growth. Preteens -- The Element is the preteen branch of the Greater Westland youth ministry. Parents are the driving force behind The Element. It is the role of The Element to provide parents the tools to answer the biblical call to train their children in righteousness and to assist parents in any way that we can. The Element staff consists of parents of preteens, working hard to provide the tools and environment for their children to choose to become disciples of Jesus Christ. The name, The Element, was chosen because this ministry is the basic building block for the rest of the Greater Westland Student Ministries. | |||||||
