About Us

The Metro Ministry Center is a geographical ministry of the Chicago Church of Christ, serving the north and west sides of the city of Chicago, and the near-west suburbs such as Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, Elmwood Park, Berwyn, and Cicero. The membership warmly reflects the cultural diversity of the communities from which we come.

There are just over 400 adult members of the Metro Ministry, with a typical Sunday attendance of around 600 adults and children. To meet the needs of our Spanish-speaking members and surrounding community, we offer a Spanish-language worship service three Sundays a month, and Spanish-language midweek services and small groups during the week.

Each member of the Metro Ministry is part of a neighborhood bible discussion group, called a house church. These small groups provide a family atmosphere and more personal setting to allow each member and guest to feel a sense of belonging and to experience spiritual support. As a congregation, we are committed to loving God and wholeheartedly following His word, the Bible. Our goal is to know God and to make Him known to the world around us.

Family

Family is an important part of the Metro Ministry Center. Metro families come in many different sizes, shapes and hues: two-parent families, single-parent families, blended families, married couples without children, empty-nesters, widows, widowers, young singles, mature singles, and college students.

We have many activities throughout the year that strengthen the family, including parenting devotionals, marriage retreats, singles devotionals and retreats, and much more. There are activities and classes for children in every age group. During Sunday morning worship services, children from infants through grade 6 participate in the Kingdom Kids program, allowing parents to attend the worship service in the auditorium, while their children enjoy an age-appropriate time of learning and fun. Children in 7th and 8th grades have a Kingdom Kids class every other Sunday, helping them to make the transition to the adult worship service while still having a time of age-appropriate learning. In addition, the Young Teens ministry (7th & 8th graders) hosts a devotional or fun activity every other Friday night. The Teen ministry (9th-12th graders) has a devotional or fun activity every week, usually on Friday evenings.

Bible Study

Members of the Chicago Church of Christ are committed to continually learning and living out the teachings of Jesus, as individuals and as a congregation. We welcome the opportunity to study the bible with anyone who wants to learn more about God’s word, whether in a group setting or in a personal bible study time. If you are interested in attending a group bible study in your neighborhood or would like to set up a time to study the bible individually, feel free to contact us.
