The Chicago Ministry Center of the Chicago Church of Christ is excited to announce the addition of Wayne and April Wright to their full-time ministry staff. The Wrights will be working in the South Sector of the Chicago Ministry Center, overseeing the Singles and Youth and Family ministries.
Wayne grew up in Detroit and attended Grand Valley State in Grand Rapids, Michigan where he became a disciple in 1997 and later earned his degree there in Business Administration. April grew up on the Westside of Chicago and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She became a disciple in 1999 while attending Indiana University and earned her degree there in Social Work with an emphasis in mental health.
Wayne and April met at a singles conference in Washington, D.C. in 2000, began dating in 2003 and were married in 2005. Before entering the full-time ministry in 2006, Wayne worked as a bank manager in Detroit and April was employed as a social worker, specializing in outpatient mental services in both Indianapolis and Detroit.
The Wrights served in the full-time ministry with the Detroit Church of Christ from 2006-2009, working primarily with the teens and overseeing a portion of the singles ministry. They moved to Champaign, Illinois in July of 2009 where they worked for two years leading the campus ministry in the Champaign Church of Christ. They are currently in the process of adopting their first child.
