Winston and Xin Batino Appointed Evangelist and Women's Ministry Leader

On June 22 Winston Batino was appointed as an Evangelist in the Chicago Church.  This means that his peers have recognized what God has already formed in this man of God.  This joyful brother is well on his way with a Masters in Christian Ministry from Harding Graduate School and enjoys preaching the word and biblical counseling.

Likewise, as we recognize the role that women have in teaching, training and inspiring other women in spiritual formation, Xin has joined the sisters in the role of Women's Ministry Leader.  Xin is a woman of faith and has the gift of wisdom.  Ethan, their firstborn is two years old and Xin is seven months pregnant.

Both Winston and Xin are of Asian descent.  Winston was born in 1970 in Bacolod City in the Philippines and was led to Christ in Manila in May, 1990 at the University of Philippines.  Xin was born in 1971 in Beijing, China and converted to Christ in Chicago in 1996 through the UIC campus ministry.  Xin has been an intern in Chicago and Winston had been in the ministry years before.  Winston entered the ministry leaving behind a high paying job and they were married in 2003.

Over the last few years they have been leading the Chicago campus ministries, a group that approaches 50.  The first half of the year has been an exciting time for the campus in both numerical and spiritual growth.   Seven of our interns that were hired over the summer were converted from the Chicago campuses.  The internship gives these disciples further opportunities to be trained and to serve.  A few Sundays ago we had a campus-led worship in the city that was truly inspiring. Keith Mudiappa and John Hyon, both campus interns, preached the Word.

The Chicago Staff is comprised of Steve and Tricia Staten (north sector), Anton and Sharon Ivy (South sector), Winston and Xin Batino (campus) and Jeremy Lefler (worship and education). We hope that some of the campus interns will find their way into full-time ministry one day.  In any event, we feel that God is strengthening all of the campus through the work of Winston and Xin.
