In keeping with our Vision Plan, the congregational worship team will be presenting a cross-cultural worship concert and devotional on Saturday night, February 2nd, at the Hermann Union Bldg of the Illinois Institute of Technology. We will enjoy great gospel, Latin, and contemporary worship tunes as we grow in the way we connect with God in corporate worship. In addition, we will be recording this concert in order to produce a CD of Worship Music, which we plan to make available to the entire church shortly after the concert. Please join us for this time of learning and spiritual growth. The concert will begin at 7 pm and run until approximately 9:30.

Single Sisters Appreciation Night

Sisters, please join us for an evening of encouragement, fellowship and fun at the first-ever Single Sisters Appreciation Night to be held February 16, 2008. It will include live music, dancing and a single brothers' auction! The lucky auction winner will have the privilege of having one of our mighty single men serve them for an entire day! Dinner will be served. Guest speaker Robin Weidner will present a special message to the single women. This event will be held at the Salvation Army building, 1 N. Ogden Ave., Chicago beginning at 7:00 p.m. The event is free, but advance reservations are required. See the singles ministry representative in your ministry center for more information.

Our special guest speaker for the evening will be Anne-Brigitte Taliaferro, women's minsitry leader of the San Antonio International Church of Christ.

Our meeting together will be held at Proviso East High School, 807 S. 1st Avenue in Maywood. Please enter the school through door #6 on the Southwest corner of the building. Parking is available at the two parking lots shown on this map.

“Tackling Addictions”

The Chains Released Ministry (CR) and the Freedom Ministry (Sexual Integrity) are having a men’s congregational workshop called “Tackling Addictions”. It will cover the following topics:

What is an addiction?
How to recognize an addiction.
How to correctly help those with an addiction problem.

You may think, “I might have an addiction problem, but I do not want to be singled out.” No finger pointing will be done however if anyone wants help there will be people to talk to and information available.

You may think, “because I do not have an addiction I do not need to go”.

The truth is that when someone overcomes an addiction, in most cases they were initially helped by someone who understood how to respond correctly to the problem. Literally lives are saved when people respond correctly to an addiction problem. Virtually all of us know of someone with an addiction problem.

So come if you can come, come for yourself. If not for yourself, than come for your neighbor. If not for your neighbor, than come to learn how to protect your family!

The Men’s workshop will be help Saturday Feb 23rd at Bryan Middle School 111 W Butterfield Rd., Elmhurst at 10:00AM.

The women’s will be the following month March 29th 10:00AM at the same location.

This Teen Devotional will be held on February 23rd from 4-6p.m. at the Central First United church, 235 S. Kenilworth Ave., Elmhurst.

The congregational campus devotional scheduled for February 29th has been cancelled.

There will be a congregational singles devotional entitled Here I Am, Send Me on February 1st at 7:30pm. Our special guest speaker for theevening will be Tony Singh. This devotional will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 7534 W. Berwyn Ave. in Chicago. Come open up the year with all the singles of the chicago Church at an evening of great fellowship and tremendous inspiration!

Our first Men's Prayer Breakfast of 2008 will be this Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Old Country Buffett located 6560 W Fullerton Ave , Chicago, IL 60607 at 8:30 am (sharp). The cost is $8.00 plus tax.

The Adoption Support Group for February has been cancelled. Our next meeting will be on March 13th.
